The Curve Community Centre provides a safe, welcoming space for families and individuals from across the North Kensington area who feel affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The Curve provides the support and services you need, no matter what stage of your journey you are at.
They aim to provide this support in a way that puts you first, and that is shaped and led by the community and those most affected by the tragedy. Your voice is always key to everything they do.
Support
The support and services they offer range from practical focused advice about emotional wellbeing, support workers, housing, NHS and employment, to courses, sessions and community-led activities that support both collective and personal recovery for children, young people and adults. Through this, they aim to serve all parts of the community and all faiths.
Some of their services are delivered by external partners, while others are put on by the team themselves, many of whom are from the local area. This means they always have a wide range of different services on offer. For example, there are 10 confidential rooms on the 2nd floor where people can access the support they need, whether for meetings or NHS talking therapies with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services or adult Central and North West London NHS Foundation teams, or wider complementary therapies like massages. The Curve also have a ground floor comfort area with a kitchen, a crèche and four different activity spaces that host a multitude of services and can be booked out by local groups and organisations for free.
These spaces and the wider centre can also be booked out for events that support the community, whether small or large. The smallest room for an event holds 25 to 30 people, whilst the whole centre can comfortably hold 300 to 400 people.
Curve Collaborations
The Curve works with many local organisations to shape what is on offer in the centre, funding some initiatives, whilst simply hosting others. This has allowed the Centre to build partnerships with local groups and institutions and they want to further this to ensure they, and the wider Council, are able to help support the thriving and vibrant communities of North Kensington. The Curve also work with many local people from the area to design services from scratch and have people on hand who can help coach and support local people to turn ideas into reality. This is part of their commitment that local people should be playing the leading role in the recovery and rebuilding of the area and community.
Help for locals
The Centre regularly spend time talking to local people so that they are better informed and better able to provide them with what they need. Some of this happens on site, some through more formal consultation and feedback, and some via outreach through networks. Much of this is led by the centre managers, three of whom were formally community volunteers supporting the residents since the tragedy, the wider team who predominantly come from the area, and the Board of Governors that ensure the community oversees The Curve’s work.

The Curve has established an independent Board of Governors and Residents’ Steering Group that will ensure the Curve is as accountable to the community as it is to RBKC
Grenfell Nursery | Day nursery in Notting Hill
Grenfell Daycare is situated on the Lancaster West Estate in North Kensington which is the largest council-owned estate in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, an interesting multi-cultural, multi-faith community very near the well-known Portobello Road.
Daily Legal Advice (Monday to Friday 10am-5pm) helping local residents affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster to get the legal support and access to justice they need.
