What will happen to Grenfell Tower?

This is what your vote will be used for - a vote by the community, for the community

Every voice will be heard - this is an opportunity for every resident of the Lancaster West Estate to have a voice and vote on the future of Grenfell Tower, alongside the bereaved, survivors and next of kin. Everyone who is involved has an idea of what they would like to happen to the Grenfell Tower. There will be many ideas and this is your opportunity to vote on them or create your own for other to vote for on. These ideas are what we, as a community, need to voice in an inclusive, 100% anonymous, impartial and trusted way. We really would like to hear your ideas and be able to present them back to the Government, to ensure they put the BSR (bereaved, survivors and residents) first, as they have always promised. It is worth to mention that we offered this technology to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to use for all bereaved, survivors and residents outside of the Lancaster West Estate at no cost, but the offer was turned down.

We will be sending out a poll card to each person living in the areas below. Each poll card will be in a sealed envelope with your unique ID which you will use to vote. How can I trust the Government with my data?

Your vote is 100% anonymous, with no possibility to trace your vote back to you

The data is collected by the community not the Government. Once collected, it is presented to the Government. As the Lancaster West Residents' Association, our aim is to find out what our residents want. We know how much you want your voice to be heard - we just need to know exactly what that voice is and what it is we need to be fighting for. That is why we are partnering with and using the latest decentralised technology to collect this voice ourselves in a safe and secure way, to then present to the Government. Instead of either the decision be left with a small group of people none of us know or use a platform that leaves our vote (and data) wide open to abuse. The app we are using is, under GDPR, categorised as 'data anonymisation' which means your name and address (your personal identity) is not linked with your vote or ideas in any way - your vote is 100% anonymous. Your personal data is not captured or stored anywhere by anyone, so even if someone wanted to 're-identify' you by force, it would still not be possible. The source code is also publicly available on GitHub, so anyone can review the code to independently verify this at any time.

Can I vote in person like I do in a general election?

Can other people vote on ideas I submit?

Yes - we want to hear what you think should happen to the tower - the community can then vote for your idea

Not only do we want to collect your vote securely and anonymously, we also want to hear your own proposals of what should happen to the Tower and allow others to vote on them. For us, this is to ensure we are not allowing outside groups to channel a limited amount of options for us to vote on that might not be what we, as a community, really want. We want the right ideas offered as a choice created by the people who are eligible to vote. We want you to use your experiences as a resident to both create the ideas and to then have the ability to vote on them. At any time, if you change your mind and discover an idea more in line with your thoughts and feelings, you can also 'unvote' (similar to creating a post on social media, which others can 'like' or 'unlike').

Are there any ideas that would not be possible?
