LWRA Residents' Meeting with RBKC and MP Representative
LWRA (Lancaster West Residents’ Association) organised a members meeting on 31st of July at NKRC (North Kensington Resource Centre) which was attended by fifty residents including young people living on the estate.
RBKC was represented by James Caspell, Neighbourhood Director and others and MHCLG was represented by Camilla Sheldon, Rabina Nawaz and Oscar Clarke. Hon. Joe Powell MP was represented by Selma Cllr, Claire Simons amd Cllr. Marwan Elnaghi and LWRA Committee members including Abbas Daddou, Steve Bownds, Ali Wali, Karen Dufeal, Michelle Active and others were present.
The meeting was chaired by Hon. Mushtaq Lesharie CBE. Mushtaq acknowledged the divide amongst the estate. He said ‘if we stand united as 2000+ residents our voices will be heard much louder than smaller groups; LWRA continues to stand up for Lancaster West Estate and other impacted communities representing schools and neighbouring estates, your support is vital im ensuring that LWRA can represent the voices of our residents.
He welcomed all representatives of MHCLG, Member of Parliament Officer and all residents for coming. The meeting discussed all issues related to Deconstruction of Grenfell Tower, Compensation, and the Future of the Estate Refurbishment.
LWRA is and will take all residents’ collective issues forward and will keep on challenging both local and Central Government whenever needed.
