Resident compensation
At the start of this year we wrote to residents to tell you about the compensation we have been lobbying RBKC for, as a result of the disruption the refurbishment has caused residents of our estate.
Over the past few months, LWRA and the Council have been working together to compensate residents impacted by multiple works at the same time, on Lancaster West Estate. How will the compensation work?
The Council has proposed to pay £400 per financial year per household to tenants, resident leaseholders and households in temporary accommodation. Compensation is planned to be paid to eligible residents through rent or service charge accounts so you won’t have to apply for it.
The first residents to receive payment will be people living in Barandon Walk, this will cover 2024-25. This is when work on their roof and replacement AOVs began and required full scaffold, alongside works to install the heat network, internal refurbishments, and dry riser works.
Testerton Walk and Hurstway Walk will receive payment for this year, alongside Barandon Walk as works continue there this year also.
The council has committed to consider compensation for all of Lancaster West Estate blocks, as and when the refurbishment moves around the estate. We will provide more information when we have it to share, and we will keep working with RBKC and government to lobby for residents of this estate
